Unveiling Authenticity with Cuestión de Cuestionar

Challenge
In a world where taboo topics often remain unspoken, Cuestión de Cuestionar dares to challenge the silence. This podcast fearlessly delves into the issues we often shy away from, offering a safe haven for candid discussions. Led by Macarena, the host, Cuestión de Cuestionar fearlessly confronts the experiences that force us to question our very identities. Despite its impact and audience, navigating the crowded podcast landscape posed a significant challenge. How could Cuestión de Cuestionar stand out amidst the noise and capture the attention of those craving genuine, thought-provoking dialogue?


Solution

In tackling this challenge, the focus was clear: to craft an identity and communication strategy that not only set Cuestión de Cuestionar apart but also authentically embodied the essence of the podcast. Drawing inspiration from its bold approach to taboo topics, we developed a brand that dared to be different. 

1.  EMPATHIZE
Discovery Phase

 When Macarena approached us, she had a pressing challenge: to completely rebrand her podcast in just one week. The task was daunting, but the urgency and importance of the project fueled our determination.

We began by immersing ourselves in the essence of Cuestión de Cuestionar. This involved deep dives into previous episodes, audience demographics, and the overarching vision of the podcast.
Regular meetings with Macarena, the podcast host, were pivotal. These sessions allowed us to align our design concepts with her vision and audience expectations.

OLD BRANDING

In our analysis of the podcast's existing branding, we conducted an extensive survey targeting their primary audience. The feedback revealed a significant issue: the podcast's visual identity lacked authenticity. It closely resembled many other podcasts in the mental health and life advice genre, failing to stand out and make a lasting impact. This cookie-cutter approach diluted its uniqueness, making it difficult for listeners to form a strong, memorable connection with the brand.

2. DEFINE
Pinpointing the
Core Message

With a clear understanding of the podcast's ethos, we defined the core message and visual identity that would resonate with the audience.  We needed a design that was bold, authentic, and reflective of the podcast’s spirit.

3. IDEATE
Generating Creative Solutions

Collaborative brainstorming sessions were instrumental in generating creative ideas. We explored various themes, colors, and visual styles that could authentically represent the podcast's bold spirit. 

We presented Macarena with multiple concepts, each accompanied by detailed explanations and visual mock-ups. This iterative process ensured that every idea was aligned with her vision and the podcast’s mission.

4. PROTOTYPE
Rapid Development and Feedback

Given the one-week deadline, we adopted an agile approach to swiftly bring ideas to life.
During this phase daily stand-ups and constant feedback loops were crucial. These allowed us to rapidly iterate on designs, incorporating feedback and making improvements in real-time.

As the Lead Designer, I spearheaded the creation of the logo, visual elements, and digital graphics. This included designing animations to add dynamic and engaging elements to the podcast’s visual identity.

4. TEST
Refining Through Client Feedback

We developed prototypes early in the process to visualize how the brand elements would function across different platforms, including social media, podcast thumbnails, and promotional materials.

Macarena’s continuous feedback was invaluable. Her insights ensured that the designs remained true to the podcast’s essence and effectively communicated its bold approach.
Before the final delivery, we conducted thorough quality checks to ensure all design elements were polished and cohesive.

Launch Support
Post-delivery, we assisted in implementing the new brand elements across all digital platforms, ensuring a smooth transition and impactful relaunch.

RESULTS
Impact

The culmination of our efforts was profound

Cuestión de Cuestionar earned a nomination for the esteemed 2023 Luces Awards and garnered a devoted following of over 42k subscribers. This recognition affirmed our strategy's success in fostering genuine connections and inspiring introspection.

Project Management

  • Kanban Framework:   Utilizing Kanban boards, we effectively managed tasks and deadlines. This visual workflow helped prioritize tasks and maintain a clear overview of the project's progress.
     

  •  With a one-week deadline, meticulous scheduling was crucial. Each phase of the project was time-boxed, ensuring we stayed on track and met all milestones.

Senior Designer

  • As the Senior Designer, I led the execution of all the design work. This included the creation of the logo, visual elements, digital graphics, and dynamic animations that brought the brand to life.
     

  • Quality Assurance:
    I ensured all design elements were polished and cohesive, conducting thorough quality checks before final delivery.

Client Relations

  •  Maintaining open lines of communication with Macarena was key. Regular updates and feedback sessions ensured she was involved and informed at every stage.
     

  •  Understanding the client’s vision and audience allowed us to create designs that truly resonated with the podcast's core values. Continuous feedback loops facilitated keeping the project agile and adaptive.
